Acai Delivery Singapore: Worth It?

With the current Covid situation where everyone is encouraged to stay at home as much as possible. More new food delivery options are popping out!

Now, we can even get Acai delivery!

Today we are reviewing The Acai Lab, highly recommended in Best In Singapore’s Best 7 Acai Bowl article!

Acai Delivery by The Acai Lab

Acai delivery is definitely one of it’s first that focus on just Acai itself! With people getting more health conscious these days, health food is definitely getting more and more popular!

It’s not only organic, vegan but also Keto-friendly! Not to mention that it’s also 100% natural and preservative-free!

What I Ordered from Acai Delivery

The Signature Acai Bowl
  • Signature Acai Bowl Medium with Nutella Add on – $11.20
  • Fruity Delight Medium with Chia Seeds and Nutella Add on – $12.80
  • Nutty Nature Large – $12.90
  • DIY Acai Bowl Medium – $10.80

*Prices are accurate at point of order*

Acai Delivery Experience and Taste Review

The Acai bowls are delivered in just nice to eat condition. The Acai is not too watery or still too hard from being frozen.

I like the taste of the Acai Bowls which is not too sweet. However, the medium portion is a tad too small and not a suitable portion for a meal. I recommend ordering the Large for a meal and the medium as a dessert.

Size Comparison between Medium & Large Bowls

I ordered several different flavours to try out and I felt that it’s better and more worth it to order a Large Bowl with your own added toppings. Definitely recommend the Signature Acai Bowl that already comes with 10 toppings! The other combinations are nice too, but not much of a difference in terms of taste. Just depends if you prefer more nuts or fruits in your bowl.

DIY Bowl have only 3 toppings and 1 drizzle option so I don’t recommend that one.

Adding Nutella Drizzle

Just add on that Nutella drizzle to your bowl and there you have it, a good wholesome bowl of acai!

Worth It or Not?

I would say that having Acai delivered is equally as good as having Acai in a store. It doesn’t affect the taste and you can keep it frozen to have it the next day if you order a few bowls at a go.

Pizza Delivery Singapore: Worth It?

Today I’m back with another food delivery review! And I’m reviewing Pizza Delivery Singapore!

Pizza delivery is no stranger in the local food delivery scene and not as unique as Sushi delivery I would say. So how does this new player score up against the big players in the market? It is listed as one of the Best Pizza Deliveries in Singapore by Best In Singapore. Is it worth it? Let’s put it to the test and find out!

What I ordered from Pizza Delivery:

At the time of order, there’s a buy 2nd pizza at 50% off. So I indicated the full price and the price I paid in the bracket.

Promotion at the time of my order

The current promotion is Buy 1 Free 1 for Medium and Large pizzas.

  • La Amatriciana Pizza – Small $13.90 ($6.95)
  • Beef Salami Pizza – Small $13.90 ($6.95)
  • Mistocarne Pizza – Small $16.90 ($8.45)
  • Chicken Alfredo Pizza – Small $16.90 ($8.45)
  • Margherita Pizza – Small $13.90 ($6.95)
  • Seafood Pizza – Small $16.90 ($8.45)
  • Mozzarella Cheese Stick $11.90
  • Fish Finger $9.90

The Pizza Delivery experience and the food itself

During the time of order, we were asked to select a time slot and I picked 6.15pm to 7.15pm. The order arrived slightly late at 7.20pm and the time sticker states that the food was prepared and ready at about 5.50pm.

Yes, the pizzas and side dishes are not even lukewarm by the time i received it. I did not reheat the food before I ate it, because I’ve always been receiving hot pizzas if not at least warm pizzas from other places. What if I ordered the pizzas at a location where I don’t have kitchen access?

I would also like to add in the fact that 1 side dish item was missing from my order. I ordered 2x Mozzarella Cheese Sticks (I love cheese that’s why the double order) and they only delivered one. Thankfully the customer service is pretty top-notch and they rectify the order pretty quickly.

This time around, I timed it and I received it within 20 minutes of dispatch. The 2nd box of Mozzarella Cheese Sticks came slightly lukewarm and definitely tasted better too. The Fish Finger is pretty decent though, I would recommend that over Cheese Sticks. You can get better Cheese Sticks for less elsewhere.

Let’s focus on the Pizza

My order missing 1x serving of Mozzarella Cheese Sticks

I ordered 6 different pizzas in small size (6inches) as I wanted to try as many variations as possible. I like that their pizzas are thin crust by default as I’m not a thick crust fan.

Margherita Pizza

They always say if you want to know if a pizza place is good, try their plain cheese aka Margherita Pizza. And I’m sorry to say this pizza did not perform up to expectations. The cheese is exceptionally thin for a plain cheese pizza.

Seafood Pizza

Out of the 6 pizzas ordered, the Seafood Pizza and the Beef Salami pizzas are the better tasting ones. The Mistocarne is not too bad too and you can avoid ordering the rest. 😛

Worth It or Not?

Comparing with the bigger players in the market, I feel that Pizza Delivery has got lots to catch up. One part is certainly to find out how others deliver their pizzas hot to the consumers. They probably have to work on the delivery times per dispatch. It’s rather odd that one driver delivered in an hour and the order only used 20 minutes.

Worth It Rating:

Rating: 2.5 out of 5.

The customer service definitely made up for the additional 0.5 stars.

Origin Superior Coolmax Latex Pillow

I must say that the stars aligned when Best In Singapore approached me to review Origin’s latest Superior Coolmax Latex Pillow as I’ve been having sleeping issues with my current pillow.

Sleep Quality is very important and hence it’s advisable to invest on your bed, beddings and pillow!

Waking up with shoulder and neck aches. Having to toss and turn to find that perfect comfortable position so you can fall asleep. Having to stack pillows together to get that neck support. I could go on whole day about the issues that I faced with my old pillow. Long story short, I wasn’t having quality sleep and that pillow was a huge contributor to that.

Now when I was asked to review the Origin Superior Coolmax Latex Pillow I’m like sure. I based it on one very simple rule if it’s able to improve the quality of my sleep.

Features of Origin Superior Coolmax Latex Pillow

Before I go on, I need to put a disclaimer that I’m not paid for this review ok? I’m only provided the pillow for the review!

My own pillow was a memory foam pillow and I assumed it’s like one of the best types out there but apparently I was wrong!

Origin’s pillow is made of Latex Foam which is denser than memory foam. It will mould to the shape of your head to give you the right amount of support. It is also hypoallergenic so you won’t have to worry if you’ve sensitive skin or any sort of allergies. This was a pretty important characteristic to me as I felt that at this age, I really need a dense pillow that gives my neck support while I sleep.

Origin Superior Coolmax Latex Pillow:
Dense yet soft to touch with Tencel Removal Cover

I’m sure everyone experiences their pillows yellowing after some time and even if it’s still good, you tend to not want to keep it anymore. Origin’s pillow included a removable cover made of Tencel Fabric which is so so soft and also has that cooling effect. This is definitely a plus point to me as I’m a Tencel convert and only using Tencel sheets nowadays.

The Verdict: Worth it?

Loving my new Origin Latex Foam Pillow

I woke up with no aches from the very first night I slept with the Origin pillow. And after one week plus of sleeping with it, I can say that it really did improve my sleep quality! I can fall asleep quicker without having to adjust my pillows or the height.

My Rating for the Origin Superior Coolmax Latex Pillow:

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

There’s nothing I dislike about it but there’s always room of improvement for everything! If you like a dense and firm pillow which you still can sink into, I highly recommend the Origin Superior Coolmax Latex Pillow!

Featuring Sushi Delivery Singapore aka SushiDelivery.SG today in partnership with Best In Singapore.

  • Kani Salad – $8.30

Sushi Delivery SG

Do note that as I wasn’t sent any raw items like sashimi or raw sushi, I will not be able to comment on their freshness with regards to the raw fish menu available on their site.

With the recent Circuit Breaker and Singapore opening up in Phases, I find that a Sushi Delivery service that delivers island-wide is one of their plus points. I’ve very limited sushi choices that deliver to my place so it’s kinda sad.

Let’s get down to the food itself!

My favourites out of the list of items would be the Kani Salad, Champion Floss Maki and the Shrimp Crouton. The Yam Net Sponge Roll will make it to the list if only it can retain it’s crispiness when it was delivered to me. The outer layer was a bit soggy when I received it. But the filling is nice though, not too sweet and jelat!

I really like the Kani Salad and even added the Chuka Kurage for more bite! It’s really refreshing and ingredients used are definitely fresh!

The Champion Floss Maki is a interesting rendition of a traditional maki roll and it’s tad of sweetness blends pretty well with the savoury ingredients.

Shrimp Crouton managed to maintain its crisps and the filling is very generous.

Sushi Delivery Shipping Rates

All orders under $60 will be at a flat rate of $5.90.
Orders above $60 will be enjoying free delivery.
Sushi Delivery also provides a 1 hour delivery service, they will delivery within the hour of the time-slot chosen to your doorstep!

Worth It or Not?

Judging based on just the items I’ve received. I will recommend to order only if you really do not have available Sushi takeaway options nearby and if you are really craving for Sushi.

Price-wise is decent and they do have a wide range of Maki rolls and Donburis to choose from.

Worth It Rating:

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Happy 30th to me…

Except it’s not a very happy moment for me right now.

I’m not referring to the fact that I’m stuck at home during my Birthday due to the Circuit Breaker. I already took leave and am prepared to just the whole day to chill. To just eat cake and anything I want, dress up and take pretty pictures and just watch shows I enjoy.

The fact that my mother is in the hospital right now due to unknown pain is worrying me. Though I’m kinda glad that I bought a cake and we both ate it on Sunday. Our Birthdays are 5 days apart btw, her’s is on the 4th on May. And here I’m hoping that the force is with her no matter how cliche this might sound.

29th April 2018 – In Seoul, Korea
29th April 2019, Staycation at Sentosa Beach Resort

Two years ago, I was spending my Birthday in Seoul. Last year, I spent it at a Staycation in Sentosa with 2 of my girlfriends. Initially I was planning for a party or at least another staycation in one of the more atas hotel.

I mean it’s not every day you turned 30. It’s the year where you have to finally change that identification card. It’s probably the only thing I look forward to because I can finally change that picture which I hated. It’s also a milestone where you finally survived that quarter-life crisis. Though I won’t say I have a very successful life till date but at least I know what I want to work towards for the next 5 years of my life.

To be honest, Birthdays ain’t a huge deal. Although it is still nice to know that people remembered this day of yours.

If birthday wishes do come true, I hope that my mother will be ok and that the our lives can go back to normal soon.

Last photo of me being in my 20s. LOL.

Happy 30th Birthday to me.
