Jan 2015 Beauty Haul

I realized that it have been quite awhile since I blogged about my beauty hauls. I used to do that a lot and I kind of really miss doing it. So for 2015, I’m going to be blogging about my beauty haul every month. Stay tune to find out what are the beauty products that I picked up from the counters! This is by no means no good to my pocket but I’m really excited!

VS bombshell pink dia

First up is Fragrance! I’ve not purchased any new fragrance for the longest time as I have not been using my fragrances. Now, I try to use a different fragrance weekly to give some love to all my fragrances. Which gave me an excuse to shop for a new fragrance. Haha. I actually wanted to buy the Scandalous scent from Victoria Secrets as it is my kind of scent. Sweet, with a little muskiness to it. But on the day when I actually went down to the store to purchase, the sales assistant let me try their limited edition scent and I got hooked. So I ended up buying the VS Bombshell Pink Diamond. I’m a sucker for all things limited edition and I really like the scent too. It’s quite different from my usual scent but I think it’s a refreshing change. The top notes are of Pink Grapefruit and Passion Flower which makes it a very fruity and refreshing scent. I love how the bottle is so bling and pink and cute! I got this at $109 for the 50ml bottle and it is only available in the 50ml bottle as it is after all, limited edition.

I saw on MakeupStash’s instagram that Hakuhodo have a permanent counter at Takashimaya so I went over to take a look as I am thinking to get a lip brush. I ended up getting three brushes from them, a lip brush, brow brush and a gel liner brush. These brushes are from their more affordable range. If I’m not wrong the brushes I got are of horse hair and synthetic mixture. I could not recall and can’t find the exact match on the site. I spent a total of $95 for these three brushes. I don’t have the individual prices as they do not have tags on them. But I’m pretty sure the lip brush is $39.

chanel spring la roma

I also went to check out Chanel’s Spring Collection as I was attracted by the Camelia prints blush. Sadly the blush was out of stock but I was told by the BA that it was nothing special and the prints will go off after a few uses. I ended up getting the La Romanesque lipstick which is a lovely bright fuchsia pink. And this is my first Chanel LipStick! Chanel lipsticks are going at $46 a piece by the way. Can’t wait to do a look with this lip color and just nice my skin is finally healing from the purging process from the skincare I’m currently on.

And that’s it for my beauty haul for January! Can’t wait to shop for the next beauty haul. I’m currently eyeing some liners and waiting for the new lip products from Shu Uemura. Not sure if I’ll get anything but it all have to wait till I’m at the counter to do some swatching! But one thing for sure is that I’ll definitely be buying a lot more makeup this year, so stay tune!

Neon Brights Peekaboo Hair by Salon De Choix

Dark roots, faded ends that are dry. It’s a sign that I should pay a visit to Salon De Choix and so there I went!

Previously, my ends were bleached to get that dipped dyed effect for many times and it’s getting unmanageable. Hence, after discussing with my stylist, we decided to snipped of some inches.

Here’s a photo of my new hair length, not that short but a refreshing length that makes the head feels so much lighter.

Then we proceeded to get a section each from both sides of my hair bleached, this time round we are bleaching the whole length instead of just half.

Standard procedure, we get the funky colors on before putting on the base color. My stylist applied two kind of funky colors on each side this time. I let him decide the colors and he picked orange and pink which I have never tried before and hence very excited!

Look at the colors!! Super bright!

No visit to the salon can do without a hair treatment. Adding on Moroccan Oil to the hair mask, it will make the hair more smooth and have a little healthy shine!

Here’s the blow drying process!! I’m loving the look of my new hair! It’s so much lighter in weight and color which gave me a fresher look!

After blow drying and touching up on the hair shape! I’m super happy with the results! And I get smooth mad shiny hair once more with a fresh coat of colors!

Let’s take a closer look at this style of coloring. The colored parts are hidden within the layers, hence the peekaboo effect. It’s a more subtle look compared to my previous color job. But when lifted up when we band up the hair or tie it up, the colors will be shown as lovely swirls. And it will be obvious when I curl my hair too.

And kudos to Ricky, I get to have nice funky hair! Do look for him if you do visit Salon De Choix and quote my name ‘Joyce’ for 15% off regular services!

Here’s another close up of the different colors of my hair. Base is light brown, pink and orange highlights! I also have a little ashy blonde color at the ends of the hair at the back. So in total, 4 colors! I initially wanted to call it the Strawberry Orange Caramel hair but it’s too long so I chose neon brights instead. 😛

Hair Color Magic @ Salon De Choix

It’s time to pamper my hair over at Salon De Choix once again. Every single time I visit Salon De Choix, I’m excited yet at ease cause I know my hair is in good hands.

For hair like mine, bleached tend to be dry and lazy me is not hardworking enough to put hair mask twice a week. If only hair mask is as easy as doing sheet masks.

This is what happens, plus the green faded making the ends seems drier then it actually is. But I don’t have split ends so I guess my hair ain’t that bad. 😛

So this time round I decided to just go for 1 color as in 1 single hair dye for the whole head as per my usual dual color as I wanted my hair to rest. After discussion with my stylist Elein, we decided to go for a Deep Ash Blonde (12.11 Color code) for the whole head as I wanted an ashy color. I was also told by Elein that the bleach part of my hair will turn into an ashy blueish grey. Somehow it sounds really cool to me so I give the green light to go ahead with the process!

I had to first bleach off my remaining green before doing the color. And as usual, steaming helps speed up the process of coloring, and also allows the hair to absorb the dye more! Apparently, my hair can take in color quite well. Seeing the fact that most of my crazy colors can last me more then a month.

Wash off after the coloring and look at that!! It’s a nice greyish blue!! I don’t think I’ve seen anyone with this color. Happy cause I like to be unique.

And of course, we must not forget to do treatment for our hair! It is recommended to do treatment at least once a month! Elein added two types of Mythic Oil to the hair mask for added moisture and shine!

After treatment, my hair ends was trimmed a little and blown dry and viola! I can has gorgeous hair again!

Here’s a before and after photo to show you the awesome things Elein do to my hair. Trimmed my hair to get back the shape, treatment to smooth down the tresses and a new coat of color to freshen up the hair! Plus can you believe the blue is obtain from the same dye that give me the nice ashy brown color for the top part of my hair?

The greyish blue has a slight greenish tint to it from my previous color. Elein told me that this color can only be obtained from clashing colors. Example, ashy tone dye on bleached hair with green dye on it. So if you happened to have green hair like me, you might be able to achieve similar effects.

Also trimmed my bangs as I’ve deiced to let it grow sideways. It’s really a hassle to keep bangs so time for a change! Plus it’s been a while since I had side fringe. XD

Closer look at the hair color. Grey, blue and a little green highlight. I like that I’m unique. XD

This is how the blue looks like when damp. Too pretty that I can’t believe it’s my hair! Hee~

Swatch: HyperCosmos Eyeshadow Duo from Maybelline

New in by Maybelline, we have the HyperCosmos Baked Eyeshadow duo available in 7 gorgeous choices. The duos comes in two complimentary colors so you do not have to think too much about matching the colors! Well other than matching it to the color of your clothes. XD

First up, we have blues and the green. From left to right, we have BU-1,  LG-1 and CH-1.

I’m pretty sure that you have noticed that one side is of a solid color and the other, a lovely blend/swirl of pigments.

Here’s the swatches. Pigmentation of these colors are ok, not too bad. I believe the colors would be more intense if applied wet. My favorite out of the 3, will definitely be LG-1 in the center. I’m loving the combination of the blue and that shimmery green,

Now here we have 2 of the most earthly tones out of the 7. WN-1 on the left and CP-1 on the right. Neutrals are the best colors that all skin tones can bring off.

And the pigmentation of these 2 are definitely better than the blue and greens somehow. I would say WN-1 the one on top is a lovely combination but I love the browns of CP-1 as they are really nice and soft.

The last 2 we have are the pinks and peach. LV-1 on the left and PC-1 on the right. These are for those who prefer light shades on their lids.

Pigmentation wise is as good as the earth colors. Very smooth and buttery texture. I would say these 2 are my top favorites out of the 7 colors! LV-1 on top and PC-1 on the bottom.

I would recommend the earthly and the pinkish ones for this range. Simply because I find that the blue and greens lack in pigmentation and is slightly too shimmery for my liking. I love my greens and blues but the ones here kind of disappoint me. Luckily, the other 4 make it up for the range. I really like PC-1, it’s great for everyday use!

If I were to rate it, a 2.5/5 for the blues and greens and a 3.5/5 for the other 4 colors.

These HyperCosmos Eyeshadow Duos are priced at $17.90 each and can be found in major departmental stores, Watsons and Guardian etc.
