L’Oreal Paris Gelmatic Eyeliner

Among the various options of liners out there, I personally prefer the pencil liners as it is the easiest to use though it’s not the best of the liners out there. I always have a love and hate relationship with liquid liners as I often smudge it before it dries out. I love gel liners but it’s a hassle to be applying it with a brush from the pot. Hence, it’s perfect to me when the beauty companies start producing gel liners in pencil/crayon form!

L’Oreal Paris Singapore have recently launched the Gelmatic Pen Super Liner in our local shores. The kind team have sent me 3 out of the 6 shades that have been launched in Singapore.

gelmatic liners

From left to right, I’ve the liners in Turquoise, Silver and Black. These liners are automatic, meaning you don’t have to sharpen them. They are also retractable so you don’t have to worry if you turn out too much length. (Yes, I’ve used non-retractable brow/liner pens before and it’s annoying when you turn out too much product.)
gelmatic liner tips

Here’s a swatch of the liners! I like the Turquoise, it give the whole look a pop of color and make it more fun! The silver and black are nicely pigmented too. It is stated that the Gelmatic liners are waterproof and smudge proof up to 12 hours of wear.

I’ve worn it a couple of times and I can say they are pretty much water and smudge proof but not up to 12 hours. The color do fade off after some 6 hours of wear and can smudge a little on oily lids like mine. Application wise, it’s not that smooth but not an issue. But I would say this is one of the better gel liners pen I’ve used in the market. I rate it a 3.5/5. gelmatic swatch

Available in 6 shades(Black, Brown, Gold, Silver, Blue and Turquoise), the Gelmatic Crayon Automatic Liners are retailing at SGD18.90 at Watsons, Guardian, Sasa and selected departmental stores.

Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette

I am a huge fan of Urban Decay Eyeshadow Palettes and is a proud owner of a few palettes like the Vice 1&2, 15 Anniversary and more. These are mainly color palettes with a variety of color choices to choose from.

When the Naked Palette was first released, it did not appeal much to me as I’m not really a fan of neutrals. Same thing for the Naked 2, I felt that the colors are too dull but no doubt it is a great palette for people who love neutrals.

Naked 3, however was different. I personally love pink tones and I was excited when I see that the Naked 3 is a pink/rose toned palette. I grabbed it when it is made available at our local Sephora stores. The Naked 3 palette is retailing at SGD83.

naked3 side

The Naked 3 consists of 12 shadows with a mix of various finishes. It also comes with a decent dual ended eyeshadow brush.

Strange: Strange is a matte creamy beige which swatches really well. The texture is very creamy and goes on the lids smoothly. This is a good highlight for the brow bone.

Dust: Dust is a light glittery pink which is really pretty. However, I feel that it lacks in the pigmentation. It’s more glitter than color. A base is recommended for the color to show up more. There’s some fallout too.

Burnout: Burnout is a peach pink shimmery color. Goes on very smoothly.

Limit: Limit is another matte shade, a light dusty rose is how I would describe it. Like Strange, it’s very creamy and goes on very nicely.

Buzz: Buzz is a shimmery bronze with pink undertones. Smooth and glides on the lids.

Trick: Trick is a bronze with gold shimmers. It swatches lighter than on pan but the texture is velvety smooth.

Nooner: Nooner is the 3rd matte shade in the palette. It’s a dark dusty rose shade with more brown tones in it. It is creamy but a little crumbly when I swatch it. This is a great color for the crease.

Liar: Liar is a very pigmented shimmery brown which is also very creamy. It’s like a brown with a wash of pink shimmer.

Factory: Factory is a deep brown with light gold shimmer. It’s is pigmented but not as smooth as the others.

Mugshot: Mugshot is a shimmery neutral brown which is very creamy and goes on well on the lids.

Darkside: Darkside is a dark brown with a little shimmer. I don’t really like it as it’s crumbly and don’t really swatch well. Be careful of fallout with this color.

BlackHeart: BlackHeart is a matte black with red glitter. It ain’t the most pigmented but I think the glitter will show up nicely with a good base.

Overall, the Naked 3 Palette is a nice palette for that everyday look. I won’t say it’s good for night looks though you can definitely do a few nice smokey eyes with the shades available. I rate this palette a 3.8/5.

Haul: Illamasqua

20131217-235505.jpg

For those who do not yet know, Illamasqua have arrived in our local shores, making its debut at Robinsons Orchard! I went there taking a look and end up leaving the counter with a modest haul. :p

20131217-235520.jpg

Lipstick in ESP, retailing at SGD34.

20131217-235531.jpg

I didn’t really have anything in mind while browsing through the counter. So I picked up a lipstick as I love lip colors. ESP is a bright violet in matt formula. It glides on pretty smoothly and is of a creamy texture.

20131217-235541.jpg

Liquid Metal in Surge, retailing at SGD40.

20131217-235551.jpg

I’ve heard good things about Illamasqua Liquid Metal so I didn’t hesistate to pick this up. Surge is a metallic silver with a brazzy tone to it. They have another on which is a pure silver. The texture is very creamy and buttery. I think it will be sure to crease so it’s best to apply on top of a primer.

20131217-235602.jpg
Precision Ink in Wisdom, retailing at SGD36.

I decided that I would like to try out their liners and the BA recommended me their Precision Ink in Wisdom. Wisdom is a black base liner with gold glitters. The swatch don’t really does it justice as I think I forget to shake it. Will do a proper review for this liner in another post once I’ve used it enough!

Nail Varnish in Nomad retailing at SGD19.

Illamasqua has great polishes and I knew I had to get one. So I picked up Nomad which is a nice mint green. It goes on nicely with just 2 coats and dries pretty fast! Great formula!

That sums up my first Illamasqua haul! Would really love to try their blushes some other time but at the moment, the selection they have here in SG don’t really call out to me. To me Illamasqua is all about the bold and loud colors but the selection available here is the safer colors. Hopefully they will bring in the bold colors soon!

BellaBox: Beauty Retreat Edition

For the month of November, BellaBox came out with a Beauty Retreat Edition! Instead of the usual pink box, we get to received our beauty surprises in a cute tote bag that is great for places like the beach! I love the color combination of the pattern!

20131120-010704.jpg

This month, we get products from CoverMark, Lynca Mineral, Twistbands and a pout pencil created by BellaBox themselves!

From CoverMark, we have the mineral wash and lather net set that is to be used together. A lather net is able to create a good amount of foam to make washing more effective. There’s also a sample of their Moisture Veil LX foundation.

Of course, we have the good old Twistband that does not leave any marks on the hair and it trendy enough to be worn as bracelets even!

20131120-010712.jpg

There’s 3 items I like to highlight from this month’s box and the first is the CoverMark Eye Shadow Palette 4 color set. I’m loving the palette I got as it’s in my favorite pink and purple tones! Great for a sweet look! This is retailing at $52.

20131120-010719.jpg

Next up, we have the Lynca Mineral True Color pigment. This is a multi-purpose product that can be use on the eyes, lips and cheeks and even the nails! I’ve received a nice sliver color which is very versatile. Can’t wait to try it out proper. Let me know if you want a post on this. If not, I’ll most probably post it up on my Instagram. (forest330)

Lastly, this is the item I’m most excited about since I saw it on the official BellaBox’s instagram! Those of you who have been following my blog should know that I’m obsessed with lip crayons now! Named as the Pout Pencil, it’s similar to the many lip crayons out there and it’s retractable. This is in a nice hot pink color with a glossy finish. Color is build-able so you can choose to have a subtle stained lips or a sexy bold hot pink glossy lips.  I’m hoping BellaBox have created this baby in different colors!

That’s all for this post! Hope you enjoy reading it!
