Review: HISTOLAB SKINCARE

20130926-092403.jpg

I was sent a range of HistoLab products from Korea about a month ago and it’s time for a review!

One unique point about HistoLab is that it’s products are more widely used in dermatologists and cosmetics clinics in Korea. Using Histo Plant Stem Cell across all it’s products, they focus on skin healing and repairing and rejuvenation based on active ingredients.

Focusing on Skin Science, the packaging of the products are simple and fuss free, odorless and colorless. Any fragrant are derived from the plant ingredients used, which is all natural.

The Basic Science Range

Bio Stem Cell Ampoule – Used after the toner, this ampoule acts like an essence which helps protect the skin against ageing caused by UV damage and also promotes collagen production to improve the firmness of our skin. It absorbs into the skin quick and makes the skin feel supple.

Bio Sheet Mask(*) in 3 variants to cater to different needs: Post Laser Cool Sheet Mask, Acne-Aid Sheet Mask and Multi-Vitamin Mask.

20130926-092353.jpg

The Bio Sheet Mask is of a slightly thick cotton material which adheres to the skin pretty well. I like how the mask extends to actually covers the skin right under the skin which is often neglected. The 3 variants of the masks all provides moisturizing properties to the skin, leaving it smooth and supple after use. My favorite out of the 3 will be the Acne Aid one as I can see redness greatly reduced after use.

 The Aqua Science Range

Water-Max Foam Cleanser (*)

This foam cleanser comes in a pump bottle and its texture is of a clear gel that will lather up in fine foam. The foam is more of a bubbly light texture rather than a dense creamy foam. Skin definitely felt clean, refreshed and supple after wash. No tightness experienced after wash as it does not strips of the skin natural moisture while removing excess oil. It is lightly scented from the plant extracts. This foam cleanser is my top pick from the Aqua Science range.

Water-Max Infusion Mist

This is a toner is a mist form. You can either spray it onto the face directly and pats the product in or spray it on a cotton and use the cotton to apply it on the face. I personally like spraying it on direct as it gives a more cooling effect and I do save product in a way. But if it’s after removal of a long day of makeup, I will apply with cotton to remove any residue. This toner is pretty hydrating but I would actually prefer to use it as a hydrating mist after makeup or after skincare at night.

Water-Max Hydrating Moisturizer(*)

This Moisturizer have a gel like texture, of a translucent white color. It goes on the skin smoothly and is quickly absorbed. I like how my skin feels cool and soft after using this moisturizer.

Water-Max Hydrating Cream

The hydrating cream is of a similar texture to the moisturizer but thicker. I would say it’s a thick gel but light cream. I use this only at night to give extra hydration to my skin.

 The Vital Science Range

Vital-X Realizing Serum (*)

This serum have a similar gel light texture to the Water Max Moisturizer but lighter. It consists of 6 different kinds of vitamins and acts as an antioxidant. This is one of my favorite out of the products I’ve received. My skin looks more fresh and supple after using this.

The Derma Science Range

Aqua Mineral Moisture Drop

A unique gel texture that will turns into water upon application. This product is absorbed by the skin very quickly leaving it feeling soft and firm with moisture. I highly recommend this for people with dehydrated skin as it provides the moisture that our skin lacks.

Post Laser Sun Blemish Balm (*)

20130926-092336.jpg

BB creams were first designed for post laser use to protect the sensitive skin from harmful agents from the environment and also the UV rays. This BB cream consists of ample sun protection and Anti-Oxidants to protect the skin while covering up the blemishes. The texture is not too thick yet the coverage is really good. The photo above is a swatch of the BB cream slightly blended out. At first I was afraid that it might be slightly dark for my skin tone, but to my surprised it sits on my skin very nicely.

20130926-092345.jpg

This is how I look with the BB cream on, set with powder after an average 5 hours wear. Coverage is great and oil control is pretty good as well. I only need to blot once after 3 hours.

20130926-092258.jpg

COVERME (Light/Natural Beige Tones)

The CoverMe is a compact creme designed for damaged skin after laser or any dermatological procedures. You can use it if you have sensitive skin like mine and is nursing a healing blemish. This powder will protect your skin against from external irritants from the environment.

20130926-092306.jpg

The CoverMe base comes in two tones to cater for different skin type. I personally use the Light Beige tone which fits just right for my skin tones.

20130926-092326.jpg

Just showing you all the sequence in which I used the products. The hydrating cream is used instead of my own sunblock at night.

20130926-092247.jpg

The White Science Range

Platinum Spot Corrector

From the whitening range, we have this Spot Corrector of high concentration. It is recommended to apply with either a cotton bud or gloves as it is a strong product. I’ve yet to use to product as there’s no Spots to be treated currently but I’ll most probably let my mum try it on her dark spots. Will update when tried!

Products that have been marked by a (*) are my favorites!

ESYORO Eye Shadow Variation Palette Swatches

I’ve received this ESYORO eye shadow palette from HKC Plaza some time ago and here’s a swatch post! It’s a small and handy compact palette which consists of 8 very pretty and wearable shades.

20130926-214400.jpg

I would say this is a very versatile palette that allows you to create both day and night looks. It has 4 neutral shades and 4 dark smokey shades to intensify a look.

20130926-214958.jpg

Here’s a closer look at the colors. All of them are of a shimmer finish for that bright look.
From top left, we have a nice pearl white, a light golden beige, a sweet peach, a shimmery taupe.
From bottom left, a deep royal purple, royal blue, khaki green and a dark metallic grey.

20130926-220152.jpg

These swatches are a one swipe, dry without any primers. The 4 light shades swatches very smooth and have a soft buttery texture. The darker colors pales in terms of pigmentation and felt a little chalky.

20130926-220431.jpg

Here’s a closer look at the lighter shades. They all very smooth but I find the glitter a litter chunky. Out of the 4, I find the peach color and the taupe to have the better texture with just enough shimmer.

20130926-220809.jpg

As for the darker shades, you can see that they are not as smooth and does not swatch as well. I feel that they will fare better when applied over a primer or wet. The purple is a tad disappointing out of the 4. The metallic grey is the smoothest out of the 4. There will definitely be fall out when using these colors so it’s best to powder up the under eye area first or do your base make after.

20130926-221139.jpg

For 1.5g per pan, this palette retails at $88 at HKC plaza which means each color works out to be $11. It’s not that expensive but you can find better quality shadows palettes at a similar price point.
I rate this a 3/5.

Review: Klairs Illuminating Supple BB Cream

Hi all!

I’m back with a beauty product review!!

I was sent the Klairs Illumination Supple BB Cream from WishTrend 2 months back and have since used it enough for a proper review!
20130719-160535.jpg

This BB Cream comes in a 40ml slim tube which makes it easy to carry around! It also have SPF 40 PA ++ which is not too bad.

20130719-160542.jpg

Here’s a swatch of the BB Cream on black surface. It is of a light tone, and is suitable for most skin tones as it’s of a neutral tone.

20130719-160548.jpg

A swatch against the back of my hand. The texture of this BB cream is rather light yet still creamy. It blended in well and coverage is pretty good as it can cover up my redness.

20130719-160605.jpg

I blended it out thickly then thinly towards the left of the hand. A light layer give you that dewy look and if you need more coverage, just add on a bit more product and blend.

20130719-160612.jpg

Here’s me wearing the BB cream with just loose powder and a little blush. No filter on this photo, taken under natural light. It covers up my redness pretty well and even the skin tone well. Does not appear too pale as this BB cream blends with your skin color.

Coverage: 4/5
Texture: 3.5/5
Oil Control: 2.5/5

Overall Rating: 3.5/5.

This BB cream is pretty much in my favor in terms of coverage and texture as it feels really light on the skin. But oil control wise, it only lasted about 2-3 hours before I oiled up in my T-zone. So you might want to avoid this if you have oily combination skin like mine.

I would recommend it for those with Dry to Normal skin types. I have tried this on someone with dry skin and it looks really good.

Review: SkinMiso

Have you heard of SkinMiso? It’s Korean skincare brand that focuses on pore problems and also exfoliation of dead skin cells.

The kind people at Urban Hunter, distributor of SkinMiso have kindly provided me a complete set of the SkinMiso Pore Beauty Nose Pack plus Comedo Remover for review.

Now, let me introduce to you the SkinMiso Pore Beauty Nose Pack, just 3 simple steps to get rid of the strawberry nose that most of us have.

Step 1 and 2 are nose packs of different purposes. Step 1 will be the pack that will force the black and white heads out. Then we remove the impurities with either a cotton bud or the SkinMiso Comedo Remover. Step 2 helps in calming the skin and contracts the pores. Step 3 is the Pore Beauty Silky Essence which helps smooth out the pores.

I really liked how the smooth my nose is after using all 3 steps. The essence will make it velvety smooth!

Here’s me trying out the nose pack. Blackheads are always there on my nose and I’ve a lot. The battle with blackheads is a constant one unlike acne. I’ve tried many ways and products previously to get rid of the blackheads. SkinMiso is by far, the most efficient product I’ve tried.

Let me show you. It’s a little gross though. But the photo below shows the amount of gunk I managed to remove with first use of the nose pack.

The SkinMiso Comedo Remover comes in a cover as below which makes it more hygienic when storing it. It also have two ends to it, a wider and a narrower for the curves around the nose. The photo above shows the narrower end.

SkinMiso Pore Beauty Nose Pack is available at most Watsons stores and retails for $28.90.

The Comedo Remover is only available exclusively at Bellabox.sg. Buy the complete set at Bellabox to get a 15% savings off the complete set!

For those who have concerns of a strawberry nose, try out SkinMiso Pore Beauty Nose Pack today!

I rate it a 4/5 rating!

And if you ask if the Comedo Remover is worth getting? I would say yes as the quality is really good. I think it has to do with the thickness of the rim, some of the ones out there are too thin and it hurts when you apply pressure to the skin with it. The SkinMiso one is just nice for me, I don’t really feel pain when I’m applying pressure with it during the removing process.

Let’s get rid of those Strawberry nose with SkinMiso today!

Wishtrend Blind Test: BB Creams

This is a super overdue post!!

I received the BB cream samples back in DEC’11 and I’m only blogging about it now. >~<

Firstly, a swatch of all the 5 samples. You can see that all 5 samples differs by color and texture. Some with yellow under tones, pink undertones, neutral tones. Some are creamy, some are thick and some are runny.

I did a half face swatch for the samples. Surprisingly, D is not as white as I thought it would appear on my face. It actually have good coverage too and brightens up my complexion.  A blends in well with my skin tone and have average coverage. B has good coverage, brightens up my skin tone. C blends well but coverage is average. E’s coverage is quite good but the shade is actually a little too light for me.

I would say B and D is the better ones in terms of coverage. However B wins in terms of texture and smell. D has quite a strong smell.

Here’s the full face makeup with the various BB creams as bases. Powders used are all the same. XD

There are 13 other bloggers involved in the test too!

Check out the overall results here!
