Hello December!

hello dec

It’s been awhile since I last wrote a more personal blog post. It’s mostly reviews after reviews these days. Not that I don’t enjoy doing reviews, but I kind of prefer doing non sponsored reviews like how when I first started beauty blogging on Onsugar 5 years ago. To be honest, I kind of stray from the path I first set myself on when I started writing about beauty. I guess this is why it seems obligatory when I’m writing reviews nowadays and I’m losing the personal touch.

In a blink of an eye, it’s already December and 2014 is coming to an end. 2014 is pretty eventful though not really in a good way for me. But December is a season of festive joy so let’s just enjoy this celebration month and start anew in 2015.  I promise more out of my own pocket reviews, more hauls, and I’m trying to get active on Youtube once more. I’m trying to save up for an iMac so I can churn out better quality videos, but it won’t be anytime soon seeing how much I spend on beauty shopping. LOL.

Also, there will be more personal ramblings from me which you might not be so interested in. But hey, I’m hitting quarter life crisis in a month, I need an outlet to release my thoughts and this is my space. My own domain, my very own virtual space where I pen down or rather type out my journey and share it with the whole internet.

I’m planning a giveaway for this festive month with the support of a few brands that I’ve enjoyed working with,so keep a lookout for it! It’s the very least I can do for all you readers who have stuck with me with the many moves and changes of my blog! I’ve also re-branded all my social media channels to Joyce Forenisa/@joyceforensia so you now how to look for me on google! Thanks for reading the posts that I’ve written and I hope you stay with me on this journey of discovering life and beauty products!

XOXO,

Vichy Aqualia Thermal Dynamic Hydration Serum

I was having a draught of dryness on my skin and it is timely that Vichy launch their new Aqualia Thermal Dynamic Hydration Serum. (In stores 1st April)

20140411-223103.jpg

I’ve received the Dynamic Hydration Serum and the Aqualia Thermal Light cream from Vanity Trove. Vanity Trove is collaborating with Vichy for this campaign. You can also find reviews of the serum from other users with different skin types on Vanitytrove.com!

20140411-223113.jpg

The star product that we want to look at is the Aqualia Thermal Dynamic Hydration Serum! Combined with the latest technology, this serum is able to even out the water level throughout the different parts of the face. In a way, it is able to detect the more dehydrated areas of the face and hydrates that part more. Interesting ain’t it?

20140411-223119.jpg

The consistency of this serum is very light and watery. Upon application, it turns into water and absorbs really quickly into the skin. Skin feels slightly bouncier after two weeks of use. I’m not sure how the technology behind this serums actually works to identify the less hydrated areas but I do find that my face is not as dry as before. It does not have that super tight feeling right after washing too. My cheeks which are usually experiencing the tight sensation no longer feels that tight.

20140411-223128.jpg

This is the Aqualia Thermal Light Cream that complements with the use of the serum. This cream is available in both the light and rich formulas. The Rich would be suitable for those with really dry skin. For people with normal/combine and oily skin, the Light cream would be a better choice.

20140411-223136.jpg

The Light cream is a semi translucent white cream of gel texture and is very light upon application too. It absorbs fast enough and skin feels smooth and cool. I find that my make up applies better when I use this cream in my routine.

20140411-223143.jpg

A closer look at the Light cream.

20140411-223149.jpg

I actually received the Aqualia Thermal Rich Cream from another event so here’s a small comparison with the Light cream.

20140411-223155.jpg

The Rich cream on the left and Light cream on the right. You can see that the Rich cream is denser and more opaque in colour. It is slightly thicker but absorption is still very fast. Both creams does not leave behind any sticky feeling.

20140411-223205.jpg

I will actually recommend using the serum as it’s really light and suitable for the humid weather in Singapore. The Light cream can be used as a day cream and the Rich cream as a night cream even for those with oily skin. Just be sure to apply a thin layer if you’re more towards the oily side. For those with dry skin, don’t be afraid to apply a thicker layer.

After two weeks of usage, I observed that my skin feels smoother, more plump and less dry. My skin was flaking before and the flaking have definitely reduced greatly.

I also love how light the serum and cream are. For someone who have combination sensitive skin like mine, I’m very afraid of thick creams as they might be too thick and break me out. I never had this problems with Vichy products as they constantly improve on their products making it suitable for the humid weather here in Asia.

I’ll rate this range a 4/5 stars!

Looking for hydration skincare? This range is definitely worth checking out!

White Label Premium Placenta’s Elastic White Skin BB Cream Review

I received the White Label BB Cream for review from BeautyDirect just after CNY and I have been using it since.

20140317-014241.jpg

The White Label BB cream comes with skincare benefits with the presence of the Premium Placenta contents which helps to keep the skin nourished and moisturised. It also comes with an SPF of 25 PA ++.

It comes in a small 30g tube which can last you for a very long time. I must also say that it is very affordable at $14.90.

20140317-014247.jpg

The colour of this BB Cream is towards the yellow tone but when applied to the face, it will blend into the skin and brightens up and evens the skin tone.

Coverage of this BB Cream is light to medium.

The texture of this cream is a little thick and I also find that it dries up pretty fast when applied. Hence, I actually find myself to prefer applying this with a stippling brush instead of using my fingers as I do with other BB creams. I find that using a brush enable me to spread the product faster and more evenly on the skin.

The lasting power of this BB Cream is quite decent when set with a powder. I would say it last a good 6 hours.

It’s great for sensitive skin as my current thin skin did not react to it.

I find myself reaching out for this BB cream very often as it give a nice glowy natural finish and feels really light on the skin!

I rate this a 4.5/5! Would be full stars if the coverage and durability can be a little higher. But I will definitely purchase this when I’m done with it as I think it’s really good for daily use!

The White Label range is available on http://beautydirect.com.sg/ and at Plaza @ Cosme, Guardian, BHG and John Little.

I hope this review is useful!

My Pandora Story

So I’ve just somehow completed my Pandora bracelet so I thought I’ll do a little post on it. Well, there’s still space for another 4 to 6 charms but I thought I’ll leave that for future use.

Here’s a little background about Pandora which is a Danish brand for those who didn’t know. It’s a brand that allows one to create their own statement accessories with their stackable rings, charms bracelets and even necklaces. They even have watches under the brand.

Under the Moments Collection, are the current popular Charms Bracelets. Each and every charm have a meaning behind it. The whole idea of Pandora Charms Bracelets is to allow the creation of each individual life story pieced together by each individual charm. This is where the beauty lies that no two persons will have the same bracelets as we all have different life stories.

And here I present to you, my very own life story in the form of the Pandora Bracelet.

20140316-233105.jpg

Here’s how my bracelet looks like now with a total of 11 charms. With the Turquoise Murano Glass as the centrepiece, I arranged the charms I have so that they are sort of a mirror image. Of course, I purchased the charms with this arrangement in mind.

The Pandora Bracelet can actually be separated into three sections. Left, Centre and Right. With two clips in place, it’s easier to arrange the charms in sections. I’ve friends asking me if the clips are necessary and I would say yes. The clips will prevent the charms from rolling all over and keep them in place in their sections when you don’t have many charms.

20140316-233117.jpg

Globe Clip: Being able to travel around the world is my dream since young. Ever since I’m financially stable with a job, I’ve been trying to travel at least twice a year. This Globe sort of represents the globetrotter wannabe in me.

Pink Fizz Murano Glass: Pink is my very first favourite colour and this charm kinds of represent the fuzzy dreams I always have.

Flower Clip with Amethyst: I’m always fond of the Amethyst stone and like most girls, I love flowers.

Fairy Tale Book Silver Charm: Despite the harsh reality of life, I still believe in fairy tales. I believe that dreams will come true eventually.

20140316-233126.jpg

Pink Heart Dangling: We are need that little love and I want to believe in it still. There’s a reason why I put it right next to the fairy tale charm.

Turquoise Faceted Murano Glass: I was attracted by this Turquoise Murano Glass when I saw it in Gold Coast and I knew I had to get it. It’s a colour that became my recent favourite. It’s also a colour that reflects better on the sea colour.

David Star Dangling with White Zirconia: The very first star that I’ve learnt to draw consists of two triangles which made up the 6 pointed David star. I always preferred this compared to the standard 5 pointed star.

Camera Silver Charm: I love photography and as a blogger, this is like the perfect charm.

20140316-233137.jpg

Paved Stars Clip: Looking up into the skies full of stars on a quiet night is one of the many memories and moments that I can never forget and can never get tired of.

Blue Fizz Murano Glass: Water might not be my element but I’ve always thought that I belong to the water. Doesn’t the colour and the bubbles in this glass bead reminds you of the sea. I put this together with the seashell charm to represent my fondness for the sea.

Seashell SIiver Charm: I love seashells! Used to pick up little shells from the beach and bring them home.

My bracelet is not really a moments bracelet but more of a character kind of bracelet. It’s one that reflects me. 🙂

Are you a fan of Pandora too? Do you collect the charms based on moments or just based on the charms you liked? Or you have other charms bracelets? Share it with me!

Violet Copper Crush by Salon De Chiox

It’s time for a pampering hair session at Salon De Choix again! The red side ombre I had have already faded so I wanted to dye it a different darker colour due to my new job.20140303-204901.jpg

After discussing with Ricky, we decided to cover my side ombre with a dark violet and give me additional copper highlights for more texture.20140303-204912.jpg

It’s highly recommended to do a colour treatment after colouring your hair to lock in the color and treats the hair for it to be smooth and healthy. The Keratase treatments is really very good!Photo 11-12-13 1 52 41 pm

Here’s a look at the colours when the hair is wet.20140303-204929.jpg

The violet is actually underneath so it is like a peekaboo style. Can easily cover up during working hours. I’ve also trimmed my hair a little, adding a little more layers in my hair.20140303-204941.jpg

Here’s a side view after my hair is all blown and styled. You can see the layers and how the violet is actually hidden.20140303-204958.jpg

Back view of my hair, you can see how the copper highlights give life to the hair.20140303-204949.jpg

Here’s the side view under natural sunlight again. I love how the different colours give my hair sort of a textured look. The violet and copper blends in very well, who would have thought this two colours look so good together.20140303-205007.jpg

From top view. I like the flexibility of my hair that I can hide the wild colours or show it just by changing the parting. One hair many looks! This kind of hairstyle is also perfect for people like me who has a full time day job and yet loves colours in my hair!20140303-205014.jpg

Thanks Ricky for the awesome hair colour and cut!20140303-205022.jpg
