Urban Decay MOONDUST: First Impressions

Latest Addition: Urban Decay MOONDUST Palette

Urban Decay Moondust palette

After a couple months of waiting, the Urban Decay Moondust palette is finally out in stores at our local Sephora stores! This is going at $80.

The recent Urban Decay palettes was pretty much a miss for me. I’m glad that they finally came up with something that I actually want! I love shimmery shadows and this is definitely the palette for me. Though I must say that UD needs to work on the fallouts from these sparkly shadows that are filled with micro-glitter.

A Closer Look

moondust-closeup

The palette consists of 8 shades in a variety of colours for all occasions.

Specter is a light peachy shade that is perfect to be used on the inner corners to brighten the whole look. It’s one of the sheerest out of the palette but I think it will also look great layer on top of a dark matte colour.

The rest of the colours are perfect for adding a pop of colour to the center of the lids on any smokey eye look. These shadows can also be used wet for a more intense look. Of course, if you’re adventurous enough, you can definitely come up many combinations with this palette.

The shadows are very soft and easy to blend. I think the only con of the palette is the fallouts.

Urban Decay Moondust Swatches

All swatches are one swipe only under different lightings. Pigmentation is pretty decent and these can be used wet for more intense pigmentations. It’s not difficult to create some captivating eye looks with this palette!

The moondust palette might seem similar to the LimeCrime Superfoil shadows but I would say they are very different.

Moondust is as named, filled with micro glitter and is very shimmery. Superfoils, on the other hand is more to the metallic kind of formula. More on the Superfoils in another post or video. 😉

Bonus: Using Moondust as a Body/Face Paint Alternative

Being a palette with all colours being all shimmery and packed with micro-glitter, we know this is not exactly an everyday palette. So what else can we use the palette for? With Halloween coming up, this palette is a perfect replacement to using face/body paint. If it’s safe for the eyes, it’s safe anywhere else!

With just any stencil and a makeup setting spray, you can come up with many different sparkly stenciled art that you can put on your face or anywhere on the body for the upcoming parties!

Can’t wait to create more #motd with this palette!

grooming tips selfie-bg

We all want to look our best in our travel photos, take the best OOTDs, and look good in our selfies with well-known landmarks in the background. But time is essential while we travel! We definitely can’t afford to spend 2 hours to make ourselves look good and waste good time that can be used to visit another tourist spot! Here are 3 simple grooming tips that can save you loads of time and still look good during your travels!

But time is essential while we travel! We definitely can’t afford to spend 2 hours to make ourselves look good and waste good time that can be used to visit another tourist spot! Here are 3 simple grooming tips that can save you loads of time and still look good during your travels!

Grooming Tips 1: Refresh Your Hair Colour and get a Treatment done!

This is very straightforward. If you dye your hair regularly, you definitely not want to be showing those ugly hair roots! So do get your roots touched up or take the chance to get a brighter colour so you will stand out in your travel photos! Getting a hair treatment is a must because our hair usually will be in tip-top condition for at least 2 to 3 weeks depending on the kind of treatment you do. I strongly recommend the Mucota ABC Hair treatment available at Headlines By Artistry as my hair always look so good and is super easy to manage after doing the treatment. Regular treatment once every 1-2 months will means that your hair will always be in pristine condition! And when your hair is easy to manage, getting it to look good is just a matter of minutes.

Grooming Tips 2: Get Your Nails Done!

sailormoon-nails-by-aini

Getting your nails done adds a pop of style to your fingers so that you can put less emphasis on other areas. LOL. My set of Sailormoon uniform nails hand drawn by my trusty Manicurist Aini had gotten me loads of attention when I’m in Japan! People just get all excited when they recognised the iconic uniforms! Nobody cares about what I wear! LOL!

Plus, painted fingernails always looked better than plain nails. And it’s really affordable to get a set of nicely painted gel nails by Aini!

You can look through Aini’s nail art designs either on Carousell at https://carousell.com/ainionelovenails/or on FB at https://www.facebook.com/ainionelovenails.
Best to book an appointment with her via either Carousell or FB!

Grooming Tips 3: Get Eyelash Extensions! Pop of Colour Optional!

This was probably the best thing ever that I did before my trip. And a disclaimer, I paid for my extensions myself!

grooming-eyelash-extentions

Eye makeup usually takes as much time as I can do the rest of my face or even longer and I simply can’t afford that amount of time just to draw my eyes while travelling! After raved reviews from a friend who frequents KJ Studio for her extensions, I decided to get my extensions done there before my trip. I’ve also decided to add in purple coloured lashes as I felt that the extra pop of colour adds dimensions. Which also means I can really skip eye makeup altogether as the extensions creates a

I’ve also decided to add in purple coloured lashes as I felt that the extra pop of colour adds dimensions. Which also means I can really skip eye makeup altogether as the extensions creates a liner illusion and have that pop of colour!

Eyelash-travel

I opted for the unlimited lash option as my eyes are pretty big and I wanted it to be a little more dramatic so as to omit the need for eye make. Paid a total of $150 for unlimited lash plus colour after a first visit referral discount as I quoted my friend’s name. If you are interested, you can quote my member #1929 to get 10% off your first visit too! Hehe.

And I must say the extensions are pretty long lasting! They still looked pretty good after a month! I still have about half the lashes left and it’s almost 6 weeks since I did it!

Bonus Tip: Mask Every Night While On Your Trip!

Trust me! Masking nightly will ensure you having nice supple skin the next day! So bring enough sheet masks for the number of nights you’re staying! Daiso have these one week supply mask packs that are pretty good! $2 for 7 pieces of masks in one pack. Or you can bring along different flavours of sheet masks if you prefer using something different every night.

And I hope this post is helpful to you all! Of course, these tips can be applied even if you’re not travelling! 😛

Osaka Beauty Buys: Seatree Art Cosmetics

Seatree Art Cosmetics

Seatree Art cosmetics

I’ve stumbled upon Seatree Art cosmetics as I was searching for the washroom at EST mall after my meal at Koyoshi before I go on to look for my mother and her friends.

I was attracted by the pretty packaging that comes in all sort of designs. Upon further inspection, I realized that for each product they have, there’s at least 4 different designs available for the packaging.

A little research on Google shows that Seatree Art Cosmetics originate from Korea and they only have two outlets in Japan. One being in EST mall in Osaka and the other Sapporo. Each Seatree Art product comes with a choice of packaging so one can choose the packaging that they preferred.

I couldn’t help but picked up a few products due to the pretty packaging choices and also the affordable price point.

Seatree Art hand cream

The first item that I’ve picked up is this super cute tub of hand cream with Little Twin Star as the design. There’s Hello Kitty too but I didn’t quite like that packaging. This hand cream is in the scent of ザクロ which is Pomegranate. I can’t really remember the exact price but this should be around 620 yen. There a total of 4 scents to choose from and each scent has 4 different packaging for you to choose from. Hand cream is made in Korea.

Seatree Art uv powder

I also got this UV Loose Powder in Light as there’s a promotion going on. The powder plus a trio eyeshadow color is at a set price of 2000 yen if I remember correctly. The normal price per item is about 1300~1500 yen or so. The powder comes in two variants, one with UV and one without. Both variants have 3 shades available. Powder is made in Korea.

Seatree Art trio shadow

This is the eyeshadow trip that I’ve got. They did not specify but it does looks like a baked mineral eyeshadow to me. Back of packaging states that it’s made in Italy.

Seatree Art trio eyeshadow

Here’s a swatch of the eyeshadow trio. Color payoff is decent and has that pearly finish. If I remember correctly, there’s a total of 5 color choices for the trios.

Seatree Art cube eyeshadow

One last item I picked up is also an eyeshadow. This caught my eye as its termed as a cube eyeshadow that comes with 9 shades. And it’s only about 1100~1300 yen. There’s several shades available but I picked this as I like the variety of colors and the pastel tones. The other variants are more towards different tones and shades of one color.

Seatree Art cube eyeshadow

Here’s the swatch for the cube shadow. The color payoff ain’t as good. I would say the trio has better payoff. But it’s decent and gives a nice sheen of color on the lids. A check on the packaging and it’s made in P.R.O.C. I do like it and for the price which is probably about SGD$15 or so, it’s pretty worth it. But I probably won’t recommend it if you are someone who prefers more vibrant shadows with better payoff. The trio though slightly more expensive, will be a better choice.

Seatree Art Cosmetics have many other products available too other than those I’ve bought. I’ve seen steam cream, makeup base, blushers etc and more. I really like their concept to allow consumers to choose their preferred packaging.

Worth checking it out if you happen to pass by an outlet.

I have a couple more posts on my Osaka Beauty Buys so stay tuned!

Feb 2015 Beauty Haul: NARS/SHU UEMURA

feb nars shu

Hello! I’m back with my beauty haul for the month of February. This post comes early as I want to peacefully enjoy my upcoming Chinese New Year holiday. Hahaha.

Just wanted to share about how I usually decide what I actually want to buy in terms of beauty products. It’s no secret that I follow tons of brands and beauty blogs out there to get updates on the latest collections and stuff. If that item caught my eye online, I will make a note to check it out in stores. I’ll only end up purchasing the products if I’m happy with what I see when I swatch it in stores. (Except for brands that are not available in Singapore.)

Narsartist palette

So I read about the NARS Eye-Opening Act spring collection from Makeup Stash (Swatches available in her post) and the palettes caught my eye. I was especially drawn to the Inoubliable Coup d’Oeil palette which is more towards the cool tones as compared to the other one in the collection. I like how the palette consists of mostly matte colors which I lack in my collection hence I had to add it to my haul. This palette is retailing at $65.

narvelvetshadow

I also got one of the Velvet Shadow Stick. It swatches really smooth on the hand and I think this is great as a base and for smokey eyes. I got it in Reykjavik which is a nice dark grey. This retails at $44. I wanted to get the Navy one at first but I decided that the dark grey one will be more universal in terms of the colors I can pair it with.

shu feb

I also dropped by Shu Uemura counter as I wanted to check out their new Metallic Ink eyeliners and I also had a $40 voucher that I could use. Brands like Shu Uemura and YSL both have loyalty programs that give you rebates in forms of vouchers once you hit a certain amount. I think you just have to spend minimum $150 to join the club. $1 to a point so it’s not that difficult to accumulate. Every 500 points for a $40 voucher at Shu Uemura and every 1000 points for a $100 voucher at YSL. Points expires once a year. I had 700 over points at YSL which expired cause there nothing else I wanted to get at that time. Such a waste.

Back to the haul, I ended up getting 3 items from Shu Uemura. One of the Metallic Ink in Navy, the Petal lash mascara which I’ve been wanting to get and the new Laque Supreme in WN02. Both the eyeliner and the Laque Supreme is at $40 and the mascara is at $50. I’ve used the Laque Supreme already and I’m in love with everything about it other than the fact that it gets a little drying at the end of the day. The color lasted me the whole day through eating and drinking! I need to get more of this liquid lip color! It have a nice glossy finish by the way. I would probably do a comparison post of the Lacque Supreme and the Tint In Gelato by Shu also so look out for it!

So 5 items this month, and highly possible I might get another couple of the Lacque Supreme.

I can’t wait for March to come as I’ve exciting news to share with you all!

Hope you enjoy reading my beauty haul ramblings!

Collective Haul: Sephora Holiday Sets

It’s the festive season soon and many brands are launching sets that are value for money! And the best place to shop has got to be Sephora!

Urban decay is one of my favorite brands and they have an exciting line up for their holiday launches. I got three items from Urban Decay! I have the first two Vice palettes, so it’s a just for me to get the Vice 3. I’ve also picked up their eye pencil set and Full Frontal Lip Stash to try out the liners and lipsticks. Sets like this are great as you get to try out the product in variants of shades. Plus, they are mini sizes so you’re bound to finish them and they are travel friendly too!!

24/7 Glide On Double Ended Eye Pencil Set, Sgd60.

IMG_3536.JPGIMG_3537.JPG
Full Frontal Lip Stash, SGD60.

Tarte is another great brand with good blushers. I love the two I had and I decided that I can’t miss our their blush palette with 5 new shades. As some of you would know, I’m in a lip crayons frenzy and Tarte have a set with mini lip crayons! Must buy!

IMG_3540.JPG
Tarte Pin Up Girl Blush Palette, SGD59.

IMG_3541.JPG
Tarte Kiss & Belle LipSurgence Deluxe set, SGD49.

I’ve always wanted to try out Marc Jacobs liners as I’ve heard only good things about them. But I was hesitating as it is pretty hefty at $36 for one liner. Glad I waited as they came out with a 7 piece petite liner set!!!

IMG_3538.JPGIMG_3539.JPG
Marc Jacobs The Sky-Liner, SGD69.

I’ve spent pretty much a bomb this month with all the holiday launches but luckily for Sephora new Black Card launch that I’ve got 10% off though I didn’t hit 250 points. But apparently I hit it after this haul. Hahahaha. A little savings now for more future shopping!!!

Swatches will be up on the blog slowly! Busy at work these days! Let me know if you want me to review any of the items in this post, I’ll try to post it up first!
